Dentures fully covered by insurance companies
Removable dentures have been made of heat-polymerising basal resin since 1950s. The most common material in the Czech Republic is the domestic Superakryl plus. In the first half of the 20th century, removable dentures were made of rubber.
Classical dentures are hard, often constraining, they are fastened to teeth by clips/metal wires, they are often reinforced by metal supports and stabilizing cast clips or even the whole denture body can be metallic as is the case with skeletal dentures. Such dentures are heavyweight, often not adhering, easy to break even though they are supported by metal. It is hard for the patients to get used to them and sometimes they don’t use them at all, even though they are made right, simply because they cannot get used to them. Allergic reactions to residual monomers contained in these dentures sometimes occur. In terms of aesthetics, these dentures do not meet demands of the 21st century as well, because the metallic parts are clearly visible.
